Application Technology of SOLDO SQ Reply Device for Power Plant DCS Surge Protection
Zhuhai Sevicon:
With increasingly stringent requirements for electromagnetic compatibility, domestically produced instrument and control cabinets, as core components of future power plants, must undergo electromagnetic compatibility equipment certification. From multiple aspects, including equipment certification, electromagnetic compatibility standards, practical applications, and test verification, this article analyzes and summarizes surge protectors in nuclear power plant instrument and control cabinets. It clarifies several key points regarding surge protection devices in cabinets, providing valuable assistance and experience for the future localization of power plant instrument and control cabinets.
The circuits of surge protectors come in various forms depending on different needs, and their basic components are the types introduced above. A technically proficient researcher in lightning protection products can design a wide variety of circuits, much like a box of building blocks from which different structural patterns can be constructed. According to the differences in circuit systems, the main SPD circuits are single-phase, TN-C, and TN-S.
The SOLDO valve position transmitter is used in process control systems to monitor valve status. Various types of signals require the installation of surge protectors to ensure electromagnetic compatibility, lightning protection, and interference prevention, thereby guaranteeing signal accuracy. In explosive areas, it plays a significant role in protecting various actuators and position feedback modules, as well as ensuring the normal operation of various valves.

Installation Method Editing
1. General Installation Requirements for SPD
Surge protectors are installed using a 35mm standard rail.
For fixed SPDs, conventional installation should follow the steps below:
(1) Determine the discharge current path.
(2) Mark the wires that cause additional voltage drops at the equipment terminals.
(3) To avoid unnecessary induced loops, mark the PE conductor of each device.
(4) Establish equipotential bonding between the equipment and the SPD.
(5) Perform energy coordination for multi-stage SPDs.
To limit inductive coupling between the protected parts after installation and the unprotected device parts, certain measurements need to be conducted. Mutual inductance can be reduced through the separation of the induction source from the sacrificial circuit, the selection of loop angles, and the restriction of the closed-loop area.
When the current-carrying conductor is part of a closed loop, the proximity of this conductor to the circuit can reduce both the loop and the induced voltage.
In general, it is better to keep the protected conductors separate from the unprotected ones, and they should also be kept separate from grounding conductors. At the same time, necessary measurements should be carried out to avoid transient orthogonal coupling between power cables and communication cables.
